DESCRIPTION: Hamilton Watch Co., Lancaster, Penn., a rare grade "947" pocket watch, 18 size, 23 jewels, stem wind and lever set, adjusted to 5 positions, ornately damascened nickel plate movement with lever escapement, cut bimetallic balance, gold jewel settings, gold timing screws and Goldthwait micrometric regulator in a gold filled, faux box hinge, reeded edge, engraved hunting case, and Arabic numeral, outer red 5-minute markers, double sunk white enamel dial, blued steel spade hands, serial #163894, c1900, together with a velvet covered storage box.
CONDITION: CASE: Case has housed another movement; Front cover with a few small dents; Fine scratches on outer surface of case; Inside of front cover with a few dings; Very fine scratches on inner surface of case; Engraving with moderate wear; Minor brassing, pendant; Front cover will not release by depressing the crown; Front cover lift spring weak; Bezel replaced; Bow with wear; Crown shell worn through. DIAL: Scratches minor to dial. HANDS: Minor losses to blue. MOVEMENT PLATES: Numerous fine scratches on plate; Barrel bridge with short scratch at left; Barrel bridge with minor marring at edge above "Ham "; Barrel bridge with small ding; Specks of dirt. MOVEMENT FUNCTION: Running order (winds, sets and ticks). Box poor, dirty, and with losses
